So, having arrived in Russia slightly later than everyone else due to a minor mistake in plane ticket purchasing, the day after I got in (saturday, today), was arranged for a August 2013 Teacher-Intern meet'n'greet - which entailed some icebreaking exercises and introductions to the staff and each other.
Our group is moderately diverse - but in order to assess this, one must consider that this is a group consisting of English speakers who 1) want to live in Russia and 2) (hopefully) want to be teachers, so that certainly narrows it down. I can say that the group is slightly more female, and slightly more American. There are a handful of Brits, one Irish woman, one South African gent, and a Danish guy, too.
My comprehension is gradually getting better. I shopped for a SIM card for my phone and had reasonable success in purchasing it and asking for help (God that lady was so nice to me!). Tomorrow I guess I'll go to Red Square or something on my own. Or maybe the big market. Or the mayakovskaya museum? the posiblities are endless. every day is exciting. I just hope it doesn't get too cold and I won't want to do anything (except work of course!) cheers.
